> We will dedicate the morning to a walk through the lovely landscapes of the Urdaibai Biosphere Reserve. Along the way, the guide will suggest a challenging option to the group, taking us (weather permitting) to visit the shrine of San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, built in the 10th century. It is situated at the top of an impressive island/rock and joined to the mainland by an attractive stone bridge. To reach the top requires climbing a stairway of 230 steps cut into the rock, marked with the successive Stations of the Cross.
> After reaching the top and taking pictures, we will continue the walk and look for a typical
restaurant to regain our strength after the physical effort. Fortunately, there are many in this area.
> In the afternoon we will continue on our way along the coast to Bilbao, the economic capital of the Basque Country and its largest city. Upon emerging from a tunnel we will stop: before us will be the impressive titanium mass built by Canadian architect Frank O. Gehry in 1997. This is the Guggenheim Museum of Bilbao. We will tour the museum in the company of a guide who will allow us to better understand the contents and make-up of this spectacular museum.
> Upon completion of our visit a tour boat will be waiting for us at the museum, to take us along the 12 kms that separate Bilbao from the sea...
